The Creative & Cultural Music Project is one of The Creative & Cultural Organisation’s community initiatives in Hull UK. Utilising popup space to provide rehearsal rooms, recording studios, music workshop space, music industry start-up support, Arts Awards, equipment and events. We do this with support from East Street Arts, Higher Rhythm, Hammond Associates & New River Retail. Here’s a round-up of where we are at with the project at the end of a very difficult year. Plus a few choice pics from our music work archive.


Providing a base, studio, advice and equipment for Create & Express ltd (Lottery Funded BAME Music Project).
Providing a base, studio, and furniture for Unit 45 Recordings.
Operating as an Arts Awards Centre, to train young people to work in the music industry.
Providing music video & photography studios for many bands including Pavey Ark in the Creative & Cultural Arts Hub.
We have been coordinating and hosting the World Drumming Network for over a decade and the group has over 2000 active members, including some of the biggest names in percussion.
Providing promotional/information space for Hull City of Music in City Centre Popup (on hold due to Covid).
Providing space for Universal Zulu Nation’s European office and would have been hosting the annual Hip Hop History Month workshops, music film shows, panel sessions, exhibitions and debates but Covid stopped us this year.

Passed activity: 

Provided Rehearsal space for many bands including Endoflevelbaddy and Verne Duels in Creative & Cultural’s temporary spaces.
Provided the Carnival Centre, music equipment furniture, staff, promotion and award-winning drumming Workshops for the Hull International Carnival.
Provided Backstage support and Green Room for Humber Street Sesh Princes Quay Stage & Hip Hop Dock Stage in Creative & Cultural 1.
Trained the Green Team and wrote the Environmental Policy for Beverley Folk Festival. Provided the Children’s Music Workshops for Beverley Folk Festival. 
Hosted the ReCOGnition Festival in Creative & Cultural Space 2. 
Provided a World Music Stage sponsored by Cornucopia at Freedom Festival. 
Hosted Panel Sessions and a Local Music Showcase with Music Industry Yorkshire in Creative & Cultural’s Pop Gallery.
Ran the World Drumming Network Awards at the O2 Academy Leeds. 
Provided a base and studio space for Festival TV in Prospect House.
Ran workshops at Cornucopia World Music Festival and hosted the festival fundraiser events in Princes Quay.
Hosted Polish Music Nights for the Polish community of Hull in Creative & Cultural’s Pop Gallery.
Hosted the album launch for 4th Floor with Lou Duffy Howard in Creative & Cultural’s Pop Gallery.
Hosted POP Photo (international music photography competition) sponsored by Music Industry Yorkshire, in Creative & Cultural’s Pop Gallery.
Provided contacts, workshops, advice and promotion for the first Hull Folk Festival.
Provided the drums and percussion workshops for the Lord Mares Launch of Hull City Of Culture and organised the carnival drumming procession and the grand finale in Princes Quay with community singing, and mass band with The Freedom Chorus and Celtarabia.
Provided studio and equipment for drum school in Creative & Cultural 1.
Delivered DJ workshops in partnership with Creative Projects ltd, for young people in Driffield.
Hosted the Sidney Scarborough Record Shop Exhibition in Creative & Cultural 1 Princes Quay.
