10:00am – 10:30am
A brief intro about myself and my photography journey.
I will talk about my ongoing personal project which started around 2001/2002.
Photographing and documenting a festival that happens at my village in Hong Kong in the New Territories which borders with the rest of China.
The festival happens about every 9 to 10 years and lasts for 4 days morning till night.
This project which wasn’t even a project back in 2001 and was just me taking photos at an event a festival with traditional Lion Dancing and Unicorns. The more I learned about the festival, the more I discovered about my own family history.
This is becoming less about Lion and Dragon dancing and more about where I have come from, the traditions which are fast disappearing and a village which is turning into a Ghost Village being slowly reclaimed by nature.
